The CRESCENDO project (Collaborative Robust Engineering, using Simulation Capability, Enabling the Next Design Optimisation) has been a major European Framework 7, Integrated Research Programme, led by Airbus. The ambition of the consortium partners is to initiate a step change in the way that Modelling & Simulation activities are carried out, by multi-disciplinary teams working as part of a collaborative enterprise, in order to develop new aeronautical products in a more cost and time efficient manner. During this talk the vision of the Behavioural Digital Aircraft (BDA) will be presented. The BDA can be thought of as an increasingly comprehensive and integrated, functional representation of an aircraft, which complements the physical definition of an aircraft as provided by CAD systems and Digital Mock-Ups.
